Check out Stephen Campana’s The Calvinist Universalist, free to read at the link on his site, and also available in print and Kindle formats here at Amazon.

We think it helps everyone to know roughly where someone is coming from, so please go ahead and introduce yourself in Introductions.

To stop people being overwhelmed by the volume of topics & to encourage members to engage with other members’ topics, we have decided to try out a new rule: One “New Topic” per week per member

Talbott’s “The Inescapable Love of God” (2nd edition) audiobook available!

Thomas Allin’s awesome old Christ Triumphant now newer and more awesome thanks to Robin Parry creating an Annotated Edition (June 2015) – Kindle version available!

Want a systematic summary of the purpose of God’s judgment and of the unquenchable fire of Gehenna according to Jesus; plus a ton of commentary on the sheep and the goats, the parable(s) of the talents, the Rich Man and Lazarus, being thrown into prison with the tormentors, and the sin against the Holy Spirit? This particular episode of Jason Pratt’s weekly internet chat show for Evangelical Christian Universalism summarizes and puts together separate arguments previously made in earlier eps (in about two hours twenty minutes – though note that not all Christian universalists are going to agree with these arguments). May God help us lead more people to trust in God (the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit), especially for salvation from our sins!

New members, go ahead and introduce yourself in Introductions. A new thread there doesn’t count against the One “New Topic” per week per member rule.

Talbott’s “The Inescapable Love of God” (2nd edition) audiobook available!

Jason Pratt (a forum admin and author) presents a systematic summary of his scriptural arguments on the purpose of God’s judgment and of the unquenchable fire of Gehenna according to Jesus; plus a ton of commentary on the sheep and the goats, the parable(s) of the talents, the Rich Man and Lazarus, being thrown into prison with the tormentors, and the sin against the Holy Spirit. That’s a lot to cover, even in a 2 hours 20 min Youtube chat! There are previous eps with more details, though. (Note that not all Christian universalists are going to agree with these arguments.)

Several forum members and admins/mods have started Facebook groups, the two longest running ones being:

Charles Watson, Sr., will be releasing his book Hell in a Nutshell: The Mystery of His Will this month, and is running a promotion on Goodreads through Halloween where you can win one of two free copies – if you’re in Great Britain, Canada, or Australia (as it’s through Amazon.uk evidently). You can also find a 4 page sample here, against “Pond Scum Theology” (i.e. against the idea that people are inherently worthless.)

Jeff Martin’s Optimism Out of Control - A Clarification of the Gospelreleased on Amazon about a year ago, and he would appreciate some reviews. It’s a hefty paperback, just short of 400 pages, at around $9 (depending on Amazon’s occasional price variations). He includes a lot of his discussions here on the forum in his book. (Note that not all Christian universalists are going to agree with these arguments.)

After a lot of consideration, the forum administrators have decided that sadly it’s time to wind things up here as Facebook is an easier & cheaper platform (it costs time & money to run this forum—both of which has been generously volunteered for the past 8.5 years). There are now many FB Christian Universalist groups but the largest/longest running evangelical one is Evangelical Universalism (Invitation & Debate).

However, as we believe there is valuable content on this forum, we are going to leave it online as read-only for a few months to allow members to collect and curate. For example, the administrators are planning to try to export/reformat the “Featured” section onto another website (possibly Blogger).

From the first of March onwards the forum will be read-only and won’t accept new members.

While we now (after March 1) aren’t accepting new members to the forum, the forum is still accepting posts and new threads at least until sometime in April.

Discuss moving plans in this thread.

If you want to help with the move, and/or with private archiving of material, you can post pdfs of your collected works on the forum to this thread at the hyperlink. (We won’t necessarily move over all posted collections, but we want to give everyone an opportunity to be collected somewhere by someone.)

An update as of July 5th 2017 on the forum migration:

…well, the update is that there is no update yet.

The good news is that our service provider hasn’t stopped using the software our forum is built on. However, we aren’t any closer to either migrating the forum to the same engine on another provider, nor migrating the forum material to a different engine on the same provider.

Meanwhile, the forum has not been frozen, so new members and new posts are still being accepted by the system. But be aware that the service provider may nix this engine at any time!

Discuss moving plans in this thread.

Note for the sake of new members: please remember that members should not create more than one new thread a week (with some exceptions like for prayer). We had to institute this rule to keep some members from topic-spamming other topics right off the bottom of the active topic list, and in principle the rule still applies. Once you’ve made a new thread for the week (the clock starts on Sunday, 1st day of the week), go contribute to other people’s threads.

An update as of Feb 28th 2018 on the forum migration:

Good news #1: our service provider hasn’t stopped using the software our forum is built on. Obviously or you couldn’t read this.

Good news #2: Alex has found a new software engine, with an established reputation, which our service provider will accept. And the material from our current engine can be ported over to the new engine.

Good news #3: the designer of the new engine will do the porting for us.

However, this is going to cost some money. And not a little money. Jason is willing to pay on the front end to get the process done, but if any members are willing to contribute after-the-fact, for now please click through to this thread to discuss the topic.

Meanwhile, the forum has not been frozen, so new members and new posts are still being accepted by the system. But be aware that the service provider may nix this engine at any time!

An update as of Easter Weekend 2018 on the forum migration:

Good news #1: HE IS RISEN INDEED! (Y’know, priorities there. :sunglasses: )

Good news #2: Migration plans have proceeded to the point where, if the migration doesn’t happen over Easter Weekend then it should happen sometime soon afterward. (UPDATE 4/2/18 – it didn’t happen over Easter weekend apparently.)

Good news #3: If everything goes right and the forum is raised to life again afterward (SYMMMBOLLISSSMMM! ), then we’ll work out a way for members to contribute after-the-fact to helping with the cost of the transition. No one has to make this contribution – the admins have taken care of that already – but we’ll figure out a way for anyone to express their gratitude if they want.

During the time the forum goes down, which should be (ideally) only a couple of hours, you won’t be able to read this forum announcement on the index page (obviously, duh), and also won’t be able to log in or do anything else, or even see the forum. Don’t panic, that’s normal.

If things go wonky and the operation totally fails, then you can still find many of the admins and keep up with news on reconstituting the site (if any) at this facebook page: facebook.com/groups/invitaiontoeu/

See you on the other side of whenever it happens! We hope! (And glad to see you on the other side of Easter!)

I’m going to freeze the forum at 7:10 pm Central Daylight Time (Apr 5th) for 24-48 hours while we attempt to migrate over to the new platform…

God willing, after the migration, the new forum will come online at:

forum.evangelicaluniversalist.com

If there are any issues, I’ll post them to facebook.com/groups/invitaiontoeu/
