Unknown to me, our forum was consuming too many resources on the host (Arvixe) & without warning they took us offline. I immediately contacted them but it took over 2 days to even establish what exactly was causing the problem :? After still offering no solution, I began moving our site to Webfaction (host I use at work), however I discovered Arvixe had a bug that meant I couldn't get our data off them! Thankfully a friend came to the rescue & was able to extract it via another, time consuming way :ugeek:

Anyway, Robin has now released his excellent review of Hellbound: The Movie!

Unfortunately dozens of spammers have joined over the last few days (about 1 per 10 minutes at one stage :o ), so the administrators are busy cleaning out false accounts and deleting posts that get through. If you have a forum account name that might be regarded as even a little gibberishy, PLEASE POST A CLEAR INTRODUCTION TO YOURSELF AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to reduce the chance of being deleted by accident.

If your account has been deleted by accident, just resign up. Your account probably wasn't banned, just deleted. An admin still has to approve every new member for a while, so please be patient.

We invite anyone (you don't have to be a Christian or a Universalist) who is interested in discussion to join the forum. Doing so allows you to post, and to see the active posts & the Members Only area (about a 1/4 of the site's content).

We think it helps everyone to know roughly where someone is coming from, so please go ahead and introduce yourself in Introductions.

To stop people being overwhelmed by the volume of topics & to encourage members to engage with other members' topics, we have decided to try out a new rule: One "New Topic" per week per member

Want a systematic summary of the purpose of God's judgment and of the unquenchable fire of Gehenna according to Jesus; plus a ton of commentary on the sheep and the goats, the parable(s) of the talents, the Rich Man and Lazarus, being thrown into prison with the tormentors, and the sin against the Holy Spirit? This particular episode of Jason Pratt's weekly internet chat show for Evangelical Christian Universalism summarizes and puts together separate arguments previously made in earlier eps (in about two hours twenty minutes -- though note that not all Christian universalists are going to agree with these arguments). New members, go ahead and introduce yourself in Introductions. A new thread there doesn't count against the One "New Topic" per week per member rule.

Talbott's "The Inescapable Love of God" (2nd edition) audiobook available!

Jason Pratt (a forum admin and author) presents a systematic summary of his scriptural arguments on the purpose of God's judgment and of the unquenchable fire of Gehenna according to Jesus; plus a ton of commentary on the sheep and the goats, the parable(s) of the talents, the Rich Man and Lazarus, being thrown into prison with the tormentors, and the sin against the Holy Spirit. That's a lot to cover, even in a 2 hours 20 min Youtube chat! There are previous eps with more details, though. (Note that not all Christian universalists are going to agree with these arguments.)

Several forum members and admins/mods have started Facebook groups, the two longest running ones being:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/invitaiontoeu/

https://www.facebook.com/groups/universalrestoration/

Exciting conference later this year (more details):

Charles Watson, Sr., will be releasing his book Hell in a Nutshell: The Mystery of His Will this month, and is running a promotion on Goodreads through Halloween where you can win one of two free copies -- if you're in Great Britain, Canada, or Australia (as it's through Amazon.uk evidently). You can also find a 4 page sample here, against "Pond Scum Theology" (i.e. against the idea that people are inherently worthless.)

Jeff Martin's Optimism Out of Control - A Clarification of the Gospelreleased on Amazon about a year ago, and he would appreciate some reviews. It's a hefty paperback, just short of 400 pages, at around $9 (depending on Amazon's occasional price variations). He includes a lot of his discussions here on the forum in his book. (Note that not all Christian universalists are going to agree with these arguments.)

After a lot of consideration, the forum administrators have decided that sadly it's time to wind things up here as Facebook is an easier & cheaper platform (it costs time & money to run this forum—both of which has been generously volunteered for the past 8.5 years). There are now many FB Christian Universalist groups but the largest/longest running evangelical one is Evangelical Universalism (Invitation & Debate).

However, as we believe there is valuable content on this forum, we are going to leave it online as read-only for a few months to allow members to collect and curate. For example, the administrators are planning to try to export/reformat the "Featured" section onto another website (possibly Blogger).

From the first of March onwards the forum will be read-only and won't accept new members.

While we now (after March 1) aren't accepting new members to the forum, the forum is still accepting posts and new threads at least until sometime in April.

Discuss moving plans in this thread.

If you want to help with the move, and/or with private archiving of material, you can post pdfs of your collected works on the forum to this thread at the hyperlink
. (We won't necessarily move over all posted collections, but we want to give everyone an opportunity to be collected somewhere by someone.)
