Have hebrew letters a number?

orthodox jewish (which are often haters of Jesus christ) interpret the bible with numerical values for the letters
i have not seen that in the new testament
is it biblical interpretation ?
thank you

gematria is part of the hidden layers of understanding in the bible. If you are looking for is it biblical, I’d say which level? You won’t find any verses that say a=1, b=2 etc.,so on the surface level of understanding no you will not find biblical support. BUT there is so many amazing number things in the bible its hard to dismiss it as coincidence.

With that said I’m sure there are a few that disagree, and that gematria is numerology, and is satanic at worst or misguided at best. That is for you to decide.

But yes there are corresponding numbers to the Hebrew alpha bet. There were originally 22 books in the Bible, and each corresponded to one of the 22 letters. Greek also has corresponding numbers to letters.
