Best thing of Kevin’s I’ve read: Cheat Sheet on Hell :sunglasses:

He looks at:

]PURPOSES OF PUNISHMENT/]

]Deterrence/]
]Public protection/]
]Restitution/]

]LINEAR VS. CYCLICAL PUNISHMENT/]

]PUNISHMENT AS A MEANS TO AN END VS. PUNISHMENT AS AN END IN ITSELF/]

]PURPOSES OF HELL/]

]THREE FORTRESSES/]
]Love/]
]Freedom/]
]Justice/]

It also contains some interesting background about Kevin.

Kevin Miller makes some excellent points in his short summary, particularly on the ineffectiveness, the pointlessness, of punishment purely as retribution. There was a programme on British TV last week looking at prisoners on death row in America. One thing which came across very clearly was the corrosive effect of incarcerating criminals with little or no hope of eventual release, and indeed the likelihood of eventual execution.

And this is the type of punishment that some Christians seem to think is the best a loving God will ever do for a large proportion of his creation. How sad.
