How To Live Under An Unqualified President by John Piper

Folks might think I’m strange. When I talk about the tribulation and the Zombie Apocalypse. But look at this news item, from the BBC today. :open_mouth:

Stormy Daniels: Trump lawyer admits paying porn star

Now, which is worse? The Trump cult or the Zombie Apocalypse cult

At least the latter is performing a great service - for humanity.

And all you AI Apocalypse promoters…might be interested, in this BBC story:

NO FACTS of any kind that puts Trump in a bad light, makes the slightest difference to the Cult of Trumpery. Like Mr. Trump himself, his fanatic supporters immediately dismiss those facts as “false news.”

I get the feeling you think all Trump supporters have red necks and are missing many teeth and are married to their cousins? I know quite a few and it’s not about Trump , it’s about his policies vs the Democrats policies. Like economic growth, secure borders and strong military. Sounds radical doesn’t it, or as the Dems often claim, racist!!

Well, here’s something to rejoice about???

Well, the creators are exercising their “artistic license”. I used to work in Chicago - years back. It was in the field of software engineering. And I took out a membership, to the Chicago Art Museum. During the lunch hour, I would go hear an" expert" speak. They would take a museum display or exhibit - and talk about it. Some exhibit items would strike me as shocking. But the “expert” had no issues with them.

Which is actually the subject, of a Twilight Zone episode at Eye of the Beholder

Which raises DEEP philosophical questions, about what is beautiful - and what is not. Which I am also raising. As an artist, as well as an armchair philosopher and theologian.

Here’s the full 22-minute episode - commercial free.

So, the majority of recent posters don’t seem to like Trump or his policies!

I suggest a trade.

We Canadians will take Trump. But in return you must take Justin Trudeau along with the entire bunch of Liberals who have no idea how to run a country. That’s an offer too good to turn down.

“There are none so blind as those who will not see” - John Heywood, 1546.

As British Prime Minister, Harold McMillan said in 1957; “You have never had it so good”.

Are we on?

If we got your guy, we would all have to use words like ‘peoplekind’ - gads. I’m not in for the trade, sorry…

I am very sorry for you, my brother Invernessian. We however have already had our share of pretty-boy chief executives. Not–DEFINITELY not up for another one. As for rednecks, these hardworking folks got their names from bending over the harvest in the heat of the day on their own farms. People who work hard to care for themselves and their families, in-other-words. People the democratic elite despise, save for their proper “purpose:” as cattle kept, fed, fattened for use at election day. Since many of the cattle have of late become rebellious, the elite class mean to import a whole new electorate. No. Just no.

Hitting the nail directly on the head!!

Yep, though I am inspired by your ideas about rednecks, folks should know that in the US, there are those who would sell the understanding of ‘the bill of rights’ right down the sewer. The idea of both UK and Canadian quasi socialism is at the heart of the debate. We as a people (here in the USA) are fighting mad about our rights. The very rights that made us the nation we were and are. Maybe Cindy, Dave, or others will chime in.

Well, I had a nice talk, at the health club. With a US citizen from India. Who’s a Trump fan and a high-income person to boot? He was telling me Apple has their headquarters in Ireland (perhaps a shell office) and they are the world’s most profitable company. But Ireland - he told me - has a corporate tax rate of 4%. So I asked him how Ireland, can afford social programs - like universal health care. His reply was that the low tax rate triggers more business opportunities. Which in turn, allows for these social programs.

So why can’t the US have BOTH, a low tax rate and programs like universal health care? If Ireland can do it. And places like Singapore can do it. So can we.

Instead, we will probably have the tribulation and the Zombie Apocalypse, dumped on us.

Art Laffer is nodding his head in agreement! :bulb:

I don’t know about Ireland. It sounds wonderful, but I haven’t researched any of that. I do know that if the current administration tried to push a 4% corporate tax rate, the current “#resistance” would likely start shooting up baseball practice fields in earnest. Personally, I think a 4% tax rate is a great idea, and I’d submit, why not for everybody? Let’s share the joy of keeping the fruits of one’s own labor. That way, we can also have more left over to willingly give to those in need. Look at what many “evil big businessmen” have done on the mere promise of lower taxes and relaxing of draconian regulations. Do we really think the bulk of US citizens would do less?

Reminds me of when Bernie ran and kept referring to “Wall Street” amid rousing applause , but he never defined what he exactly meant by Wall Street. That never bothered his followers however.

So, can I assume from all the most recent posts that the deal (Trudeau for Trump) is off? You turn down a guy who was a wow on his taxpayer-paid “working” vacation in India with his wife and family tagging along to be included in all the selfies that were snapped? A man with a huge ego who thinks it smart to dress up in a different Indian costume every day? A man who wants all of us to learn and use nineteen new pronouns when referring to someone who isn’t sure what sex he/she/it is? I doubt that your guy can be more of an embarrassment than him.

Seriously, I am impressed with what he has accomplished in little over a year despite receiving zero help from Democrats and not much from his own party either. I suppose those of you who dislike him would claim that Hillary would have done a better job. I think he deserves, and should receive, full support from all Christians. I have not seen any signs that he is disrespectful of, or insensitive to, the needs of the least fortunate of American society. For the love of Mike, he has offered to provide amnesty to more than double the number of “dreamers” proposed by Pelosi and Schumer.

I repeat what Harold McMillan said in 1957: “You have never had it so good”.

Thanks.

We don’t need no stinkin’ 19 pronouns! :open_mouth:

What would your hero, Mr. Trump, say about that?
Do you know what he would say? Uhhhh… Do you know what ey would say? or should I ask, “Do you know what ve would say?” Or maybe “xe” or “ze”? Of course, you cannot know a person’s sex without asking him or em or ver or zem, because a person’s sex is not biologically determined but self-declared as a person itself learns what sex it is.

As for “personkind” aren’t we being a bit sexist in using this word? Why “perSON” kind? Why not “perDAUGHTERkind”? :unamused:

Good point! You’re a good ma…uh…pers…uh…human being!

Of course now I’ve alienated all the ET’s.

edit: I hope that last pun was not too obscure!!

huMAN being? Why not “huWOMAN being”? Or better yet “huPEOPLE being”!

Let’s get it straight. We’ve got to stop being so sexist. We’re not just part of mankind (there are women too). As Mr.Trudeau affirms, we’ve got to start saying “peoplekind.” :unamused:

Uh oh. I realized just wrote “women.” I should have written “wopeople.”

Perhaps wo/man would work? I talked to a person the other day who pronounced ‘women’ as ‘wimmins’. He was a large fellow who informed me he had ‘drove truck for 26 year’. Which has nothing to do with this thread. Forget I even said it, good perdaughters.
